Assurance Through Certification

The Woodwork Institute offers to the architect, specifier, or design professional its expertise and support by offering FREE education, consultation, and a standardized means of quality control for architectural millwork.

The two Compliance Programs are Certified Compliance and Monitored Compliance. These programs allow the design professional to rest assured that the specified project will be completed to the level of quality he or she expects.

Certified Compliance Program (CCP)
An established discipline of quality control for use in conjunction with the Manual of Millwork providing a non-biased means of confirming conformance to your plans and specifications.

CCP is a means of confirming the quality you designed. Requiring Certified Compliance informs everyone that you expect what you have specified, without bidder discrimination.

Certified shop drawings eliminate the need to check fabrication details; the Institute does that for you, using your specifications and the GRADE specified. When receiving certified shop drawings, you are assured they conform to your specification and the Manual of Millwork requirements; leaving verification of your design intent as your primary concern.

Evidence of certification is provided by means of an individually serial numbered Shop Drawing Certified Compliance Label attached to the first page of the original shop drawing set.

Certified millwork and installation confirms that the furnished and/or installed millwork products conform to the plans, specifications, and Manual of Millwork for the GRADE specified. Adding the confidence that you and your client are getting what was specified and what you’re paying for.

Evidence of certification is provided primarily by issuance of a certified Compliance Certificate, listing the items certified, the applicable grade and whether installation is included; additionally each elevation of casework and/or countertops shall bear an individually serial numbered "Certified Compliance Label," if so specified.

For general information, see Section 1 in the Manual of Millwork. For specific policies and procedures, refer to Section 2.

Monitored Compliance Program (MCP)
An established discipline of quality affirmation for use in conjunction with the Manual of Millwork providing non-biased review/inspections of your project from its start to Certification at completion, without bidder discrimination.

MCP is a means of affirming the quality you designed. Requiring monitored compliance informs everyone that you are demanding the quality you designed and specified for your client.

The Institute will issue written progress reports throughout the duration of the project. The shop drawings, millwork products and installation (of all involved parties) will progressively be inspected for compliance to your specifications and the specified GRADE per the Manual of Millwork.

Evidence of monitored compliance is provided by issuance of a Monitored Compliance Certificate, listing the items certified, the applicable grade and whether installation is included; additionally each elevation of casework and/or countertops shall bear an individually serial numbered Certified Compliance Label.
